Charlie Thompson

Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. I played the Electric Factory in a rock band, "Flying Pig" at age 18 when Cream and Hendrix were playing there.
 

Moved to South Carolina in 1969 and immediately took a fondness for Country and Bluegrass. My 1st Gig in 1971 was attended by  Buddy Cage and and all of the members of the New Riders of the Purple Sage.

 

Throughout the years I have played in countless bands and performed with: Darius Rucker, Hootie and The Blowfish, Edwin McCain, Jerry Douglas, Radney Foster .I have opened for: The Byrds, John Prine, Marshall Tucker, The Allman Brothers, Earl Scruggs and many more. Currently I tour with The Blue Dogs.
